An interchangeable handle of a scalpel designed to mount a compatible blade. Together, this device and the blade, become a single-bladed surgical instrument used for cutting or dissecting tissue
Scalpel Handles are intended to be used with surgical blades for tissue separation and other procedures that require a sharp surgical blade to puncture or cut. The scalpel Handle holds the scalpel blade, it is a small and extremely sharp instrument used for surgery and anatomical dissection.

ATTACHING A SCALPEL BLADE
- Grip the blade With pliers, or similar, avoiding contact With the cutting edge.
- Hold the handle in your left hand With the bayonet fitting uppermost.
- Place blade partway over handle fitting and engage slots.
- Slide the blade until it clicks into position.
- To improve assembly, flex the blade slightly upwards when sliding onto the handle.
DETACHING SCALPEL BLADE
- Grip the blade with pliers or similar, at point A making sure that the cutting edge is facing
away from the hand and body. - Ensure the blade is pointing downwards and towards a surface and NOT towards yourself or others.
- Whilst holding the handle firmly lift the back edge of the blade With the pliers or forceps and slide away the handle.
- The preferred method would be a Swann-Morton blade remover device.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Must clean after every use with warm water to remove blood, tissues, and mucus from the instruments.
- Ultrasonic cleaning is recommended for all the instruments specially articulated instruments such as forceps, rongeurs, etc.
- Use only standard and reputed brands of disinfectant solutions.
