Direction to Use

Direction to Use

  • Measure the amount of water needed based on the instructions provided with the alginate powder. The ratio of powder to water can vary depending on the brand and type of alginate.
  • Pour the water into a clean mixing bowl.
  • Slowly add the alginate powder to the water while mixing with a spatula or mixer. Mix the powder and water together until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  • Continue mixing for an additional 45 to 60 seconds to activate the alginate and ensure proper setting.
  • Once the mixture is fully mixed, quickly transfer it to the impression tray or dental mold before it begins to set. Alginate can set quickly, so it is important to work efficiently.
  • Seat the impression tray or dental mold in the patient’s mouth, making sure it is in place. Hold it in place until the alginate sets.
  • Once the alginate has set, carefully remove the impression tray or dental mold from the patient’s mouth.
  • Rinse the impression or mold with cold water to remove any debris or residue.
