Features

Features

  • High concentration of fibers: great mechanical properties
  • Metal filament: allows radiographic visualization
  • Modulus of elasticity similar to dentin´s: lower risk of root fracture
  • Conical tip: less tissue removal in apical third of root canal
  • Parallel shape with grooves: great retention
  • Direct use (prefabricated): saves clinical time and decreases lab costs
  • Longitundinal fibers: easy removal

Direction to Use

Direction to Use

A. ROOT CANAL PREPARATION

1. Select the pin using the template and the periapical x-ray of the tooth

2. Remove some of the root canal fi lling with heated instruments to the predetermined depth. The use of drills can cause apical displacement of the gutta-percha. Allow at least 3 to 5 mm of fi lling at the root apex due to the presence of accessory canals, which must remain sealed to prevent bacterial contamination

3. Prepare the canal with the drill corresponding to the diameter of the selected post

B. PREPARATION OF REFORPOST FOR CEMENTATION

1. Position the pin to verify its adaptation. Make a mark on the pin 2 to 3 mm from the antaonist tooth – and cut it with a diamond bit at high rotation under cooling. Do not use scissors or pliers, because the maceration of the fi bers changes the mechanical properties of the pin;

2. Clean the post with alcohol and dry it

3. Apply a layer of silane (SILANO ANGELUS®) and let it dry for 1 minute ; L WARNING: It is not necessary to apply the silane on REFORPOST® CARBON FIBER.

4. Apply the ANGELUS® FUSION-DURALINK® CATALYST to the post according to its instructions

C. CEMENTATION

1. Clean the canal with the air-water spray and dry it with air and absorbent paper points

2. Etch the canal with ANGELUS® 37% PHOSPHORIC ACID for 15 seconds

3. Wash again the canal and dry it with air and absorbent paper points . Apply ANGELUS® FUSION-DURALINK® PRIMER in the canal and wait for 1 minute

4. Apply ANGELUS® FUSION-DURALINK® CATALYST according to the instructions. The adhesive components must not be mixed before application. They are polymerized chemically without light curing

5. Spatulate the resinous cement selected* and fi ll the conduit

6. Put the post in the canal, remove excess of the cement and wait for the polymerization. If the cement is dual, light cure it

L Zinc phosphate and glass ionomer cements (conventional and resin-modifi ed) can also be used, but their mechanical properties are inferior to those of the resin cements. Auto-adhesive cements eliminate the needs for the steps of acid conditioning and adhesive application.

D. CROWN BUILD-UP

1. Do another etching with ANGELUS® 37% PHOSPHORIC ACID and apply an adhesive on the remaining tooth structures and post. Build the crown core with composite resin  or with ANGELUS® REFORCORE®. REFORCORE® is a prefabricated glass fi ber core, for the technique of direct cores

E. USE OF ACCESSORY POSTS IN WEAKENED ROOTS AND WIDE CANALS

1. Fill the remaining spaces of the canal with ANGELUS® REFORPIN® accessory posts. The decrease in thickness of the cement and the better retention provided by REFORPIN® reduce the risk of post/core loosening

FAQs

FAQs

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CARBON FIBER PIN AND A
FIBERGLASS PIN?
The carbon fiber pin is black in color and currently has the same mechanical
strength as a glass fiber pin (1200 Mpa).

WHAT DRILLS SHOULD BE USED WITH REFORPOST CARBON FIBER?
Post 1 – Largo drill number 3

Post 2 – Largo drill number 4

Post 3 – Largo drill number 5

WHAT ARE THE STEPS FOR THE CEMENTATION OF REFORPOST CARBON FIBER?
Post preparation: clean with alcohol, apply silane (Silano – Angelus) for 1 minute,
apply the adhesive.

Root canal: acid-etch (37% phosphoric acid for 30 seconds), wash with water, dry with
absorbent paper points, apply the primer, apply the adhesive, place Reforpost with resin cement.

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF A SERRATED POST?
The undercuts increase the retention of the post with the cement.

WHY DOES REFORPOST 1 HAVE A SMOOTH MIDDLE PART, WITHOUT UNDERCUTS?
It’s thinner diameter and, consequently, less fiber, could render Reforpost 1 more fragile.
So its middle part is smooth, thicker and stronger.

WHAT CEMENT SHOULD BE USED WITH REFORPOST?
For the cementation of CARBON fiber posts, self (chemically)-cured only resin cements are the best recommendation.
